Abigail Scaggs is a dancer and performance artist where her training began here at Step 1 Dance 2 Academy under the direction of Jessica Gallew. She belonged as a member of the studio’s Performance Company and spent two years as co captain and captain. In the summer of 2023, Abigail studied in Florence and Naples, Italy discovering performance art as a tool for inspiration. While abroad, she expanded her research on ancestral trauma through mediums of dance and movement. In 2024, Scaggs earned her BFA in Dance with a minor in Business at the University of the Arts under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield. During her education, Abigail performed in Vespers by Ulysses Dove, restaged by Alfred Dove, as well as Changing Steps by Merce Cunningham. Abigail has also performed in works by Sidra Bell, Tommie-Waheed Evans, Katie Swords Thurman, Sydney Donovan, Cat Cogliandro, and Hayden Frederick.
